Plastic Bags!

Ok, never let your husband go to the grocery store! Junk food and MORE plastic bags!!
2-15 Today I went to 3 stores, forgot my reusable bags, so carried everything out with no bags :)
3-15 Ack! This last month has been me totally forgetting my reusable bags! I am getting close to even with bags in and bags out! I better get my act together!

Just Takes 2

So I was reading about a woman who finished her Dear Jane after 15 years or so. She did it all by hand, including the binding. I thought I would like to make an all by hand quilt. So the question is, do I keep with my postage stamp quilt that I haven't worked on in about 2 years? Or do I make my Dear Jane all by hand? Or should I do the Just Takes 2? I am not thrilled with the fabric I have so far, so I haven't started it. I don't think I want solid red. I want small print that reads red. I guess I need to go shopping, and look in person! No more internet reds! And still keep the postage stamp to finish someday...

Just Takes 2 update

So I have had encouragement to start this Red and White Quilt. :)
A giant encouragement was the sale at Hancock's of Paducah. I got an extra % off, plus free shipping. Soon to be delivered to my door, 13 yards of fabric. Not all Red and White, but mostly.
The first of the patterns were posted today and are very cute, and doable. But doable by the 15th? If I don't add the redwork, I could finish by then....
January 6... ok, too much wasn't red. And some I thought was red was more rust. I think I need to just buy what I can see-then I won't have 5 yards of fabric that I don't want-even for another project!

New Years Resolution

I have a cupboard, that used to be just a shelf in a cupboard, full of plastic bags. And they just keep expanding. I now have stashes beneath just about every sink in the house! I can't just throw them out, or even recycle them because I do use them as trash bags. And who wants to throw out all those free bags! Hmm, I guess that means more stuff coming in than trash going out....must be why the house keeps getting fuller and fuller too!
Yes, I have reusable grocery totes, shopping totes, cute bags I have made, cute bags received as gifts, but do I ever remember to bring them?
My huge goal/resolution: 1 bag in, 5 bags out. That should get my bags back down to one small shelf. I can always hope :)

Dare I start a new quilt?

So Brenda (Dear Jane) and Gay(Sentimental Stitches) are starting a new mystery quilt.
It is red and white-and I've been wanting to make a red and white quilt for a while. And it has over 2000 pieces! Sounds so intriguing!

Finished Skirt

I finished the hand sewing on V's skirt this evening. I started it yesterday-cut out the fabric, and had most of it finished. I made all the seam/edges enclosed so there wouldn't be any fraying.
Next up for V-an apron dress out of soft greens.

Little red bird!

I just joined a yahoo swap group, and one of the ladies had a block with the little red bird fabric. I fell in love with it! I found some on-line, with some of the coordinating fabric, and I am going to make a skirt for V!

More Apple Cozies!

These are so quick and fun to make. The orange is for a girl whose favorite color is-can you guess?-orange!
The pineapple is inspired by a pineapple stuffed animal :)

Button Pin

K sent me this button book for Christmas (last week).
I made the button pin. It was fun and easy. V would like one too :)

Christmas Gift

Christmas Tree Potholder
Peppermint Bark Soap

The potholder is from a Carol Doak design-a paper pieced Christmas Tree.
The soap is made with melt and pour soap. It is scented chocolate on the bottom layer, and peppermint for the candy layers.

4th of July skirt

4th of July fun! I was cleaning up my craft room- and found the iron-on patch I had bought for V. So I made a last minute skirt with left-over quilt fabric from a table runner I made last week-end. Good thing it is a seasonal skirt, because it got a lot of use, and juice and dirt...

My brother Todd

My brother Todd passed away. We found out the beginning of April. This is him and his son Toddi in Budapest, where they lived. I like this picture alot. Todd was 45, and Toddi is 10.
I have some of Todd's t-shirts to make quilts for Toddi, my mom and my dad. These shirts are ones I made, and I hope to use some of the leftover pieces as sashing between the t-shirts.

More and more wheel spinning

From the top left: A two ply, from a batt based on the movie Avatar. Then the batt for the WaterLilies, and the finished yarn.

More wheel spinning

This is a merino, dyed something like `merlot'. The plied yarn isn't quite as light as it looks. I am crocheting a scarf, and it is turning out so nice, pretty and soft.
