LUS BOW 24 Chambersburg

This week's block is the same piecing as last week. But-put lights and darks in different places and it looks like a different block!
This week the individual square in a square blocks went together even better than last week. I guess the more I sew-the better I get!  :)
I am getting quicker too. This took me about 2 1/2 hours. As I often sew while watching the kids at activities,  it really is an estimate.

Jane Austen BOW #2

Jane Austen BOW #2
Sister's Choice
I used 3 fabrics in this block and I am pleased with how it turned out. The pink is from the Ladies Album line (used in block 1 also). The 2  floral fabrics  are from Moda, Mill Book 1852.

LUS BOW 23 Kansas Star

The block went together better this week. The square in a square sections turn out fine. But I am still having trouble putting them into rows, and then putting the rows together. But yes, it was better, and I hope next week will be even better!

New Jane Austen BOW by Barbara Brackman-Block 1 Bright Star

I have started the new Barbara Brackman Jane Austen BOW!
My fabric-from Ladies Album by B Brackman-came in the mail on Saturday. Just in time!
This first block is called Bright Star.

LUS Bow 22-Indiana

A little bit of `fussy cutting' for this week's block. The blues are the same fabrics! Each of the 9 patches went together well, but I had a little trouble when it came to putting the 3 rows together. In the end the measurements were fine, but the seam allowances on the back show the mistakes.

3 More Birthday Blocks

These are the next 3 Birthday Sampler Blocks. I am all caught up! So far the blocks have all been 12 inches. I might start thinking of a layout sometime this month, as it is a slow month with only one Birthday.

Threads of Memory BOM #3

Hmm, Can I say I really like my fabric choices this month? The contrast is getting much better!
I am still having trouble printing the templates to the correct size, so I drafted my own paper piecing templates for the star points. The points were all in the centers so it was pretty easy.
And I do like paper piecing now and again to make the beautiful crisp points.

LUS Bow 12 Castle Wall

I finally finished BOW 12! I only had to sew on the 4 white corners and one of the outer blue pieces. The week that it was due, I was very busy getting V's party ready, sewing for gymnastics, etc.
So this was the only block so far that I didn't finish at the weekly deadline. But it is done now, and I am very happy! I am going to remake Anneke's choice because, even though  I finished it for the weekly deadline, it is so crooked! I am leaning towards re-doing the entire block rather than salvaging any of the sections.

LUS Bow 21 Combination Star

I am pretty pleased with the block this week. And I finished early! Every time I go to pick out fabrics, I find that I still really like them. The `fussy cut' fabric is so pretty and has so many pretty spots that are perfect for framing in their little square in a squares.

Sampler Quilts-Birthday Blocks

In the Sampler Quilts yahoo group that I belong to, our current sampler is `Birthday Blocks'.
In this group we work on a sampler theme at the same time, for ourselves-no swapping.
Past themes have been 2 color blocks, flower name blocks, etc. This Birthday block sampler is where you pick out a favorite block on your birthday and post it to the group. These are the first 4 blocks, and I have two more for March. I decided to try a purples and yellow and white color scheme.
I have plenty of purples! But very few yellows. These are all machine pieced.

LUS Bow 20 Happy Home

Can you believe that this BOW is already 20 weeks old? The lightest colored fabric I have had for quite awhile. I take it out now and again to use it, or so I thought! This was the first time I actually did use it. The medium fabric has gold, but in the picture it looks rather yellowish. I am getting curious to see how all the blocks will look together. The blues are rather similar, but I have added white, off-white, gold and silver highlights.

Country Gatherings is Finished!

Woo Hoo!
A completely finished quilt!
Only 7+ years!

LUS Bow 19 Tea Leaves

This is my block from last week. The fabrics are new! I really like the white on white, and wish I had purchased a little more. I enjoyed cutting out the flower motifs for this one too.
The block turned out a tad too big, so I need to figure out how to use it without cutting off my points. Perhaps I will make the sashing a teeny bit smaller? I will have to think on that!

LUS BOW 18 Crosses and Losses

I finished this week's BOW in plenty of time. I also lined the fabric up so that it gave  a continuous flow of the fabric. Unfortunately you cannot tell because the triangles just don't have enough fabric. The center does look like a mirror image though.  LUS

LUS BOW 17, Lincoln

Another Week, Another Block. And may I say `yea!'?
I am happy that I am keeping up with this BOW.  Once I have the block prepped, it is easy to carry with me and sew a little here and there. This week I think I will try and start on the sashing. I am pretty sure I don't want to do all the sashing at the end. I think it would be especially tedious by hand. I have a nice lighter blue picked out. I may also do a medium to dark medium corner stone.
